I’m Fern, I’m a Yorkshire wedding photographer that captures the love, warmth and laughter that make your special day yours. No stiff direction and forced smiles, just authentic moments as they happen.
I know that not every couple loves being in front of the camera – which matches my style perfectly. The best photos don’t come from posing, they come from being yourself.
I work best with couples who want to relax, be themselves, and trust that I’ll take care of the rest. My aim is simple: to make you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera, so the magic can happen naturally.

My Favourite Wedding Venues in York
York has some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the country – from elegant city settings to peaceful countryside retreats. Some of my favourites include
The Grand, York – I love taking couples out to the adjacent City Walls for sunset portraits. You get some incredible Minster views while still being only a few steps away from your party.
Hazelwood Castle – Ceremonies under the woodland pagoda feel so magical when the light filters through the trees. I love it!
Merchant Taylors Court – This feels like a rustic barn wedding but sits right in the city centre. It’s peaceful garden oasis is perfect for getting those essential confetti shots.
York Registry Office – Capturing intimate weddings in this Georgian building is such a treat. And being so central it’s perfect for wandering into the nearby Museum Garden for some group shots.
Each has its own unique charm and atmosphere, whether it’s the grandeur of a historic estate or the laid-back beauty of a rustic barn wedding.

Do you travel beyond York for wedding photography?
Absolutely. I regularly photograph across Yorkshire – including Harrogate, Leeds, and the Dales – and I’m always happy to travel further afield.
How would you describe your photography style?
Relaxed, natural, and storytelling. I focus on emotion and atmosphere rather than posing.
How long have you been photographing weddings?
I’ve been photographing weddings for just over six years now. And have worked with many different couples looking for my style of relaxed, unobtrusive photography for their Yorkshire wedding.
Do you photograph small weddings or elopements?
Yes. Whether it’s an intimate celebration or a big city wedding, I tailor my approach to suit the mood and flow of your day.
When should we book?
Most couples book 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular York venues and summer dates.
What if you’re ill on our wedding day?
I totally get why this might be a worry, but in 6+ years of shooting weddings, I’ve never had to miss a single one. Of course, life is unpredictable – but it would take something really serious for me not to be there.
If that ever happened, I’d make sure you’re in safe hands by finding a trusted photographer with a similar style who fits your vibe. And don’t worry – after the wedding, I’d still edit all your photos to make sure they have my signature look.
Do you offer engagement shoots?
Yes! Engagement shoots are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your big day. They’re also perfect for capturing some relaxed, natural photos of you both – whether it’s in the Yorkshire countryside, a favourite city spot, or even at home with a cup of tea.
